PROTO VENTURES CHANNEL:
Geothermal
MISSION
To accelerate the creation of geothermal ventures from MIT.
BACKGROUND
MIT has a proven history of producing bold, game-changing ventures. The innovation pipeline is strong — the key challenge is scaling up the creation of potentially transformative companies and accelerating solutions to address the planet’s most urgent challenges.
The Geothermal channel, launched in 2024 in collaboration with Project Innerspace and GEODE, focuses on unlocking transformative opportunities in clean energy by tapping into Earth’s abundant and sustainable heat resources. This initiative leverages MIT’s world-class expertise and core strengths, including advanced drilling technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, subsurface modeling, materials science, thermodynamics, geophysics, and sensor systems to accelerate innovation and drive scalable geothermal solutions.
